The challenge:

Unlike in the United States, public schools in Mexico are not required by law to serve children with special needs. Meanwhile, many communities in the country offer few to no therapeutic resources for disabled children. Tragically, this has left most children with disabilities in Puerto Penasco isolated at home without access to the critical educational and therapeutic resources they need to reach their potential and participate fully in life.

Providing Therapies and Special Education to those who need us most

Educarte Fundacion logo(1).jpg

Who we are:

Fundacion Educarte is a Mexican non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people with disabilities in the community of Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

What we doing:

!n 2021 we opened the first-ever multidisciplinary therapy clinic serving disabled children in Puerto Penasco. Then, thanks to a wonderful partnership with Victory Foundation in Arizona, in August of 2024 we were able to open the first ever private special education school in this community.

Why we need your help:

Our therapy clinic and special education school are very specialized programs that are expensive to operate. Unfortunately, many hard-working local families cannot afford to pay privately for the professional support their children desperately need to develop to their full potential. Fortunately, at Fundacion Educarte we are committed to serving disabled young people regardless of their parent’s ability to pay. But we need your support!

We are looking for 1,000 people willing to donate 1,000 pesos (approximately $50 USD) to help us continue serving those kids who need us most.

WILL YOU HELP US GIVE KIDS LIKE SOFIA A BETTER FUTURE?

Meet Sofia:

When Sofia was born doctors told her parents she would likely not survive long. Now six years old, not only has Sofia survived but she is thriving. When she began attending our new school last year, her smile quickly won over all of our teachers. From her first day she was thrilled to be in school and she enthusiastically participates in academic, artistic and sensory activities with her classmates. Sofia's curiosity and true joy for learning has helped her overcome many challenges she has faced. Since starting school she has become much more social, her motor skills have improved a great deal and she is gaining many skills that are helping her become much more independant. Sofia's positive attitude inspires her teachers and classmates daily  and she reminds us that with the right support and opportunities all children can reach their potential.

A message from Sofia's mother: "Thank you for making this smile on Sofia's face possible. We are so grateful for everything this program has done for her and for all of you who support Fundacion Educarte "
